Dragonflies have changed little since their ancestors flew alongside the dinosaurs!  A fascinating and beautiful group of insects, this course will introduce dragonflies and their close relatives, damselflies. This course is aimed at complete beginners who want to learn about dragonfly ecology and the habitats where you can find them. You’ll learn how to identify the more common species, as well as some of the rarer species to be found in the UK.

The course consists of 3 Zoom sessions, one every Thursday night from 7pm to 8.30pm.  Thursday 6th, 13th & 20th May 2021.

 

The course costs £28 per person, and includes a private YouTube link with all of the session recordings.  

The course will be delivered in a friendly and informal way with the chance to ask questions throughout. You will have the option to have video on or off to help you feel relaxed and comfortable.

The session will be delivered through Zoom and you will need a computer or ipad with audio and microphone to ask questions. All pictures and videos are from the Speckled Wood image archive.

Speckled Wood Wildlife have 40 years experience in watching & observing wildlife, as well as over 20 years experience in teaching. We offer a high quality learning experience, and are currently delivering a number of short and in-depth zoom based courses with the aim of promoting the awareness and enjoyment of the nature on your doorstep, your local area and further afield.

As spring fades into summer there is a wealth of beautiful wildlife to discover in South Wales. This late spring wildlife course includes fabulous butterflies, moths, orchids, dragonflies and birds. These sessions will introduce some of the species to be found , covering their ecology and how to identify them.

 

If you’re a complete beginner or want to know a little more, join us for these two  live evening sessions (also recorded) which will introduce a range of beautiful species. If able, these sessions will provide the ideal introduction to field trips to key sites (additional cost pending lockdown exit).
